Tradition states that it’s “bad luck” for the groom to see the bride on the day of the wedding until the moment he sees her walking down the aisle to be his wife.
But today, thousands of couples are braving the bad luck to have a “First Look” before the wedding.
Are you on the fence about a first look? Here are some pros and cons for you to consider.
A first look can be a beautiful, private moment for the couple when they get to marvel at each other, have a quiet conversation, and express their love without being completely surrounded by on-lookers.
A first look can also help the schedule of the day flow much better because it allows for picture sessions to take place before the ceremony without having to hide from each other. This helps lessen the time you need for photos between your ceremony and reception.
If you choose to do a first look, you can also choose the location. Rather than having your pictures and video full of your guests faces watching you, you can have your first look outdoors in a beautiful garden, in front of a painting, in a place that is special to you and your fiancé; there are almost endless possibilities.
A first look can be an amazing, quiet photo opportunity for your wedding day.
However, there are several reasons that people choose not to do a first look also.
Not allowing the bride and groom see each other before the wedding keeps a long-standing tradition. So if you need a little old-fashioned in your otherwise modern wedding, this can be a good way to go.
Wedding guests often comment that they love to watch the groom’s face as he sees his beautiful bride for the first time as she walks down the aisle. If you do a first look, the groom is still sure to be happy to see the bride walking down the aisle toward him, but he may not have the same look as he did the first time he saw her.
