5 Ideas to Include In Your Wedding Vows
Having trouble with writer’s block when writing your wedding vows? Not to fear! Here are five things to get you started!
Include a Song Lyric – Maybe you and your SO share a favorite band or a favorite song. A well-chosen lyric can trigger a lot of emotions! Music is a powerful source of catharsis, and those feelings are even stronger when they’re connected to a loved one.
Include a Movie Quote – Perhaps you’re looking to create a moment of comic relief. A movie quote can be great for this! If you and your partner have the same goofy sense of humor, then chances are you love a lot of the same comedies. Bust out your partner’s favorite line and give them a good laugh on the altar. Moments of levity like this can add a lot of sweetness to the proceedings.
Include a Memory of a Special Time – This could be a trip you went on together, your first date, or the very first time you met. Or maybe just a particularly nice afternoon in the park! Any memory can do, no matter how seemingly small, as long as it’s important to you. If the emotion is there, that feeling will be palpable to your partner and your guests.
Include Plans for the Future – Now that you’ve revisited the past, it’s important to look ahead to the future. Talk about your hopes and dreams for your life together. It can be something specific, like a vacation spot you’d like to visit together. Or it can be general, like a wish for years and years of happiness. Either way, future plans are a good way to wrap up your vows!
Remember to Include the Vows! – Remember, they’re called vows for a reason! 😉 Don’t forget to add you promise for love, faithfulness, and support to your SO! Feel free to also throw in your own extra personal vows – they can be as sincere or as goofy as you choose! (Some people like to crack jokes, like “I promise I’ll always leave you in charge of the remote control.”) Making an extra promise gives the vows a good little button to end on!
