Weddings are more tiring than you might expect. There’s a lot of walking and standing around between events, and high heels aren’t necessarily conducive to maintaining your comfort.
First things first – delegate! 🙂 You are the Bride! You don’t need to run around and grab everything yourself. Did you leave something in the car? Politely ask a friend to run and grab it for you. There is so much on your plate already – the more help, the better!
Before you even buy your shoes, check out getting a size larger then you really need. You’re going to be on your feet all day, and it’s super common for your feet to swell. The extra size will make things MUCH more comfortable.
Another helpful tip is to go into the day with two pairs of shoes. You have your nice heels for the ceremony, but bring some comfy flats for the reception.
If heels aren’t your thing to begin with, many brides choose to wear nice Chuck Taylors, Vans, Keds, or any other kind of sneaker of their choosing. Usually they’re all-white tennis shoes, or all-white with glitter. One bride even had a pair of Converse custom made with her wedding date on the heel caps!
Hem length – let’s be honest, your dress is long (most of the time) and except for 1 “shoe shot” you won’t see your shoes in the photos. If your wedding dress is long enough to cover your feet, it’s perfectly acceptable to take your heels off during the portrait sessions. Taking photos is one of the more physically intensive parts of the day, so spending an hour or two barefoot will be a good break for your feet!
Additionally, you can purchase numerous pairs of dollar store flip-flops to hand out at the reception. They’re cheap and decently comfortable, and your guests will be glad they don’t need to dance in heels!
Lastly – baby powder is your friend! Use baby power in your shoes!
Use these tips and you’ll be able to enjoy your wedding with maximum comfort!
