With Halloween behind us, we’re officially in the depths of autumn, with winter on the way! It’s a beautiful time of year, and the romantic atmosphere is perfect for a wedding. You know what’s not perfect for a wedding? Cold guests! Here are some tips to prepare for an outdoor winter ceremony.
Warm Accessories – Cardigans, scarves, afghans, earmuffs, handwarmers, gloves. These are all things you should have on deck for your groomsmen and bridesmaids. (Preferably matching, in your wedding colors!) As for your guests, make sure they’re well aware that the venue is outside, so they can prepare accordingly. You can also provide matching blankets for your guests!
HotHands – You could also distribute HotHands to your guests and wedding party. HotHands are a brand of air activated heat packs. They’re tiny packets that you hold in your hands or keep in your pocket, and they can provide warmth for up to ten hours! Your guests will be very grateful, and a box of them are relatively cheap at most big chain retailers. (There are also insoles for shoes!)
Lamps – If your reception takes place outside, you’ll want to rent heat lamps. Or at the very least, get some fire pits. If the reception is on the patio of a venue, they’ll most likely already have lamps or fire pits on hand and ready to go, but you’ll want to make sure in advance. You can also have the bar serve hot beverages, like cocoa. This will keep everyone warm until the dancing begins, when they can heat up by staying active on the dance floor!
Special Accessories – Winter weddings are a good opportunity to show off some decorative flair. Holiday-themed decor, pretty lights, snowflake garlands. If you’re the creative type, let your imagination run wild! You can even get a special white coat for the bride. Or gift your groom with silly, warm socks so he doesn’t get “cold feet!”
Use these tips and suggestions to stay warm and make your outdoor winter wedding magical!
