If you’re looking for a wedding venue in the Kansas City metropolitan area, you have a lot of great options from which to choose! To help you out, we’ve written this handy guide highlighting some of our favorites!
The Pavilion Events Space – The Pavilion Events Space is one of the most elegant wedding locations in KC. They have a unique open air chapel surrounded by a lush garden, for outdoor ceremonies. Receptions take place inside, in an ornate, antique ambience, featuring bronze ceilings, crystal chandeliers, and hardwood floors. Their building features a grand ballroom, a junior ballroom that can be outfitted for intimate ceremonies, and a bridal suite.
Here is a video from Alex and Julianna’s wedding at the Pavilion:
Hawthorne House – Hawthorne House features a small, hometown-feeling chapel, and a variety of cool spaces throughout the property. The reception hall is a spacious, open white room with polished wooden floors, with space for a DJ or musicians. They also offer bridal and groom suites. Outside, there’s a lot of greenery, a picturesque bridge, a gazebo, and a large outdoor chess set.
Deer Creek Golf Club – Open since 1989, Deer Creek Golf Club is located in Overland Park. Aside from the sprawling 18-hole course, Deer Creek is host to tons of greenery for you to enjoy during your outdoor ceremony. Inside, there are multiple gorgeous banquet rooms available for your reception.
Deer Ridge Estate – Deer Ridge Estate is a secluded venue, located outside of Kansas City on a 160 acre park. You can rent the property for the entire weekend, (Friday, Saturday, Sunday). The main hub of activity is their huge farmhouse, where there are eight rooms for the bridal party to stay. There are activities for kids, a pool, a billiards table, an outdoor kitchen, a horseshoe pit, a huge reception area, and a gazebo outside. This is an excellent venue for an awesome reception!
The Little Theatre – Located in the heart of downtown Kansas City, The Little Theatre is an elegant, gilded ballroom, featuring an exterior promenade, a balcony, and a stage. The room first hosts the ceremony, and then all your guests adjourn to a different room for a cocktail hour while the ballroom is flipped to accommodate the reception. The space is shaped like an octagon, and features a lot of cozy alcoves and secluded places where the couple can get some cool photos!
The Laya Center – The Laya Center is a brick building downtown that accommodates indoor and outdoor weddings. You can have your ceremony inside the reception hall, with its rustic ambience and hardwood floors. Or you can get married out in the hidden garden area on their outdoor terrace, which is the perfect place for sunset photos!
Uptown Theater – The Uptown Theater is an awesome theater with two levels of seating, an impressive stage, and green rooms for the bridal party to get ready. The reception and ceremony both happen in the auditorium itself, and there’s a nice sideroom for a cocktail hour. The venue provides a really cool lighting set-up for your DJ to use. But the coolest part is you get married on the actual stage, where many famous bands have played over the years!
Eighteen Ninety – Eighteen Ninety is a historical house built in 1872, located among the beautiful hills outside of Kansas City. The house has multiple bedrooms for your wedding party to stay the night in. Behind the house is their rustic (though temperature-controlled) barn, where the reception is held, with the ceremony occurring outside. They also have a big stage and pavilion for your use. Eighteen Ninety has recently added a second ceremony location on their property, called The Fields. The Fields features amphitheater seating and a covered patio!
The Farms at Woodend Springs – The Farms is another barn venue, with indoor dancing/dining and outdoor ceremonies. The dance floor is really open, with concrete floors, and all the walls are white, which makes for really good flash photography. They have a beautiful veranda for a cocktail hour, and of course bride and groom suites. They bridal suite has plenty of mirrors and vanity tables for doing hair/makeup. The groomsmen’s suite has really comfy couches and a foosball table. Outside, there are 10 acres of secluded greenery, so the couple can take some cool outdoorsy photos. This is a private, serene location that’s also an easy drive from downtown KC.
The Barn at Schwinn Produce Farm – Located in the Salt Creek Valley just outside of Leavenworth, The Barn is yet another indoor/outdoor space. Weddings occur either in the barn itself, which has space for up to 250 guests, or outside in a grove of shady trees. The property is home to a lot of awesome spots for portrait sessions, and also comes with a caterer’s kitchen and a separate house for the bridal party to get ready in. (The bridal suite has a very cool mirror wall!)
With so many great wedding locations to choose, you can’t go wrong. There’s something for everybody, and any of these venues would be the perfect spot for a Kansas City wedding!
