FTP Media Uploading Instructions

Tower Studios will no longer be accepting media from Dropbox, Google Drive, or other online footage sharing sites. To streamline our footage collection, we have set up an FTP server at Tower Studios for media uploading.

To upload media to the Tower Studios FTP Server, please follow the instructions below:

  1. You will need an “FTP Client”. If you already have one, great! You can jump ahead to Step 2. If you do not already have an FTP Client, we suggest using FileZilla – it is free, and easy to setup. (FileZilla works for Mac and PC.)
    1. FileZilla (https://filezilla-project.org)
  2. Enter the following information in the fields along the top of the window, and press the “Quickconnect” button.
    1. Host: ftp://47.50.165.53
    2. Username: (your username – text Jeanette at 636-206-8758 if you don’t have one)
    3. Password: (your password – text Jeanette at 636-206-8758 if you don’t have one)
    4. Port: 2222
  3. You may get an “Unknown certificate” pop up. If so, make sure you entered the correct IP address, and then click “OK”. If you would like, you can check the box to “Always trust this certificate in future sessions.”
  4. The log at the top of the screen will eventually say “Status: Logged in” and “Status: Directory listing of ‘/’ successful”. The pane on the right side of the window will populate with everything in your server folder (this may be empty if this is your first login, or if Jeanette has already cleaned everything out).
    1. The left side of the screen allows you to navigate files on your computer, and the right side of the screen shows what is currently on the server.
  5. You can now drag folders from your computer (left side) to the server folder (right side).
    1. The bottom of the screen will display a progress bar for the upload.
    2. Make sure to check the “Failed Uploads” tab at the bottom of the screen. If any files fail, please make sure to reupload them!
  6. Please text Jeanette at 636-206-8758 once all of your media from an event has uploaded.
  7. Please keep a copy of all your media until Jeanette confirms she has received everything. (Just in case something didn’t upload correctly, etc.)

Quick note: uploads will often be faster if your computer is plugged into an ethernet connection, rather than on wifi.
